Transition to Midwifery Knowledge 1: Universal Care

Module code: MID7507-B

This module introduces student to the role of the midwife in optimising normal physiological processes throughout the childbearing continuum. Students will explore the role of the midwife in the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal period and their role in the promotion of public health. Students will develop their knowledge of anatomy and physiology in relation to childbearing and develop the theoretical knowledge that underpins universal personalised midwifery care for families during the childbearing period. This will include exploration of the wider context of public health relating to individual beliefs within social and cultural contexts. This underpinning theoretical knowledge is then applied within the practice-based module Transition to Midwifery Practice. Download the PDF for MID7507-B_2024_5.pdf
